Hello, World
Hello, world.
I'm back to a blog because in this country all good things are eventually corrupted and ruined by the profit-hungry and control-hungry beasts. I don't want to be part of that machine any more than I have to be.
I will miss being able to check on my friends, cousins and little cousins at the click of a button. I will miss the anniversary posts that remind me what I was doing with a friend or a loved one on that day one or more years earlier. I will just have to find old school ways of satisfying those cravings.
The wish I have for me and my life is less screen time and more snail mail. Less scrolling and more reading in coffee shops. Less of being owned by the dopamine hits waiting behind the little red notification numbers on icons on a phone screen and more filling the bird feeder, more walks in the woods, more day trips with my honey, more movement with my whole body, more trips to the farmer's market, and more cooking from scratch.
This page might remain only slightly active during my transition time. I'm putting no pressure on myself to update here more often that when the mood strikes.
Thank you for visiting. If you have a blog, let me know. I'll come visit you.
The image represents three things I love to do with my free time when the laptop is shut and phone is put away: printmaking, playing with my graphic tablet and ArtRage software, and making things to wear using my mom's Singer Featherweight.
What do you like to do when the computers are off?
When I had a lot of baling wire I used to form a shape and paper mache it. My first attempt was a hippo. I like to make stuff out of found things.
ReplyDeleteMy first comment! That sounds like a lot of fun. I also used to make animals out of papier maché, but my frame was a balloon blown up. I once made a wizard to sit on the desk of a teacher I liked, but I think I chickened out and never gave it to him.
